God sees past your flaws to see your potential

God sees past your flaws to see your potential

🎙Last week I was a guest on a podcast and was asked if I thought an unpolished college basketball player that thus far has fell significantly short of his potential would get drafted.

👍🏾My reply, was yes, despite his inconsistency, lack of polish and the fact that there were many times throughout the year where he looked like anything but an NBA talent he will still be a first-round pick.

🤔Why? Because the front office execs will look past his flaws and lack of experience and even the moments in which he looked more like a high school hooper than an NBA talent and see his raw talent.

📈They will trust in the process they have in place to transform the current college prospect into a polished pro.

🙌🏾 This process is nothing new, God has done this repeatedly, and has done this with both you and I. I know it’s hard for us to accept, because we see our flaws, our mistakes, and we hold on to the moments in which we are sinful, but God looked passed all of that and drafted us anyhow!

💭Power Thought: You think the Lakers were willing to give up a lot for AD? Check out the verses below! Not only are we God's first-round choice, if we fell back, "He'd sell off the whole world to get us back!"

📖Isaiah 43:1-4 (MSG) But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.

Go deeper than deep

Go deeper than deep

❓Have you ever grinded as hard as you could only to; take an L, get benched, not get promoted or go undrafted? That’s where Simon was in Luke 5:4-7.

😤He gave it all he had and Jesus told him to go harder, put more into it and keep hope alive despite the colossal failure he just went through.

‼️To excel athletically, and more importantly to live the life God called you to live you have to know His word well enough to maintain a positive outlook on life.

💯You also must keep it a buck (100) with yourself and know that despite your positive disposition that extreme failure awaits.

🤔How many times have we relied on our feelings to navigate through failure and as a result we gave up hope prematurely?

👉🏾Instead allow God to lead you through your losses, just as in Simon (Peter’s) case your breakthrough may be lying in the deeper water.

📖Luke 5:(MSG)4When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, “Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch.”5-7 Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.

Don't Settle For Common

Don't Settle For Common

God cares for us more than we could ever care for ourselves and He his more committed to us fulfilling our potential than we are, which is we He gives us the game plan to succeed in Romans 12:12!

No Brother in law ball

No Brother in law ball

Stop rolling with those that you can play “brother in law ball” with as it relates to your character. Instead, search for friends that will, as it states in 📖Luke 17:3 The Message (MSG) “Be alert. If you see your friend going wrong, correct him. If he responds, forgive him.”

Never Compromise

Never Compromise

🗣I can't give less than my best and still be all God created me to be, athletically and in every other walk of life. I acknowledge that I have no room to compromise.

👍As long as you settle for mediocrity in sports and in your journey to be all that God has called you to be the seas will be calm and smooth.

💨 In fact, the enemy will provide wind behind you to push you further away from your potential.

🚧On the other hand, once you decide to aggressively pursue excellence in God’s name you ought to be prepared!!

🌊 Those same winds that were once propelling you towards mediocrity will be the very winds you'll have to fight in order to be your best you and live your best your life.

Check your bags for free

Check your bags for free

🤷🏾‍♂️I often fly American or Frontier, but the last time I traveled I flew Southwest. When I checked in, I tried to finesse and carry my huge bag on, even though I knew dang well my bag was too big and heavy to carry on.

😣I was used to flying on airlines that charged to check baggage.

👝💼 The attendant said, "that looks like a big bag lets just check it, so you don't have to worry about carrying your baggage all over the airport." I replied that I would rather carry around my baggage than pay.

🙌🏾She then reminded me that checking my bags was already paid for!" As Christians, we too need to be reminded that God paid for our baggage.

‼️🚨🛫Stop traveling through life with heavy baggage weighing you down, instead check it with God, after all, it cost you nothing.

📖Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me, and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me, and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
