⚠️One of the members of my “God Squad”, Ricardo Patton use to tell his players when he was the head coach at Colorado, “to not say hello when it’s time to say goodbye.”

⛹️‍♂️🏾Coach P explained that every year he’d have a player, or two that had NBA aspirations, who waited until the spring of their senior year to work like a pro.

🚨Throughout their career Coach P would tell these players what they needed to do to become pros; take care of your body, study film, get up early and work on your shooting, stay late and work on your scoring, sacrifice the college party life, he’d tell them.

👂For three and half years, his advice would go in one ear and out the other, as they had convinced themselves that they had plenty of time to reach their goals and fulfill their purposes.

😩Once the season ended after their senior year they began to urgently take heed to his advice, but it was too late! They never came close to becoming a pro, because they waited until the last minute to start working towards their goals.

📢John 9:4 tells us that, “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.” This is God telling us, like Coach P told his players, to not put off what God has equipped us to do right now until later, because we do not know when it’s going to be too late.

❗️❗️Every day that God breaths life into our bodies, he does so in order for us to fulfill His purposes through us, which means we have work to do, TODAY!

📖As followers of God we must never lose sight of what our ultimate fulfillment is once our life on Earth is over, it’s to hear God say after looking back on our time here, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, Let’s celebrate together(Matthew 25:21)”! And that will never happen if we say hello when it’s time to say good bye.

*🤞🏿My “God Squad” is my group of mentors in basketball and life who display Christ-like character and influence me, by example to do the same. If you haven’t already I’d suggest you assemble your squad!
